Originally starting out in the machine tool industry in 1983 as Progress Machine. Progress Machine worked along with Standard Modern™ Lathes Inc.; a North American icon when it comes to machine tools; by building, rebuilding and retrofitting the lathe product line.

Seven years later in 1990, Racer Machinery Company Ltd was formed and continued the same services provided by Progress Machine. In addition to its lathe services, Racer Machinery Company Ltd. introduced Racer branded machinery.

Over the next several years, Racer Machinery had achieved many significant milestones including the design and implementation of the Megatronic PC-CNC Controller.

What was considered some of the most advanced technology at its time, Racer Machinery had design, built and implemented this new technology with less than 2% noise level error and became one of the pioneers of the technology.

Starting in 2001, it was the turning point for the future Racer Machinery would become.

Racer Machinery signed a deal to produce the first RMC screw mill which had lead to multiple patents and patent pending designs during the R & D process. This innovation lead to industry leading technology applied to all future projects.

Later in 2003 the company was renamed to Racer Machinery International Inc. to symbolize its new direction and focus. In the coming years, Racer Machinery International released designs and delivered equipment for various applications in machining which include but not limited to CNC Lathe, EDM, CNC Horizontal and Vertical Milling machines.

Back in 2005, RACER also successfully implemented ISO 9001:2000 into it’s operations and further developing is business operations.

Over the next four years Racer Machinery International really harnessed the new company direction and focused on manufacturing state of the art machine tool technology.

In 2006, RACER got featured and recognized in Plastics News Magazine with an article highlighting the improvement in production with the new RMC 6000 Machine.

Later in 2008, RACER expanded the product line by acquiring a saw manufacturing company to expand its products into the industrial saw market.

In the following years, trademarks for Phantom Machine Technology™ and E-R Maier™ Saw were received and the E-R Maier™ brand introduced the new horizontal saw line, HX Series (HX450E, HX450SA, HX450A).

In addition to the already significant accomplishments, RACER also successfully received patent in the European Union.

Capitalizing on the recent successes of RACER’s brands, the company expanded its capabilities further when it acquired the assets and manufacturing rights for the established and reliable Standard Modern™ brand in 2014. Standard Modern™ has been manufacturing metal cutting lathes since 1931 for loyal and satisfied customers around the world.

With over 17,000 Standard Modern™ installations in North America, Standard Modern™ lathes are being used extensively in precision, high-tech machine shops, used by both the Canadian and United States military, and many technical colleges and trade schools.

Bringing over 80 years of experience to Racer Machinery’s portfolio, Standard Modern™ machines are one of the most trusted in the machine tool industry.

The two companies have been working closely together since 1983, making this acquisition a welcomed addition to the RACER family. Still proudly produced in North America, Racer Machinery now manufactures the Standard Modern™ lathes with the same level of quality that is expected for all of its products.
